About SkyPhage

We're re-building the internet as it should be.

SkyPhage is a distributed infrastructure company on a mission to decentralise the web. We believe the internet should be open, resilient, and owned by everyone, not a handful of corporations.

Our story

From hyperscalers to SkyPhage

SkyPhage was founded by engineers who spent years inside the world's largest cloud providers and technology companies. We built the systems that power global-scale infrastructure: the orchestrators, the networks, the platforms that millions depend on every day.

But we also saw the cracks. We watched a small number of companies consolidate control over the internet's backbone. We saw costs spiral, outages cascade across continents, and innovation bottleneck behind walled gardens. We knew there had to be a better way.

So we left to build it. SkyPhage takes everything we learned at hyperscale and applies it to a fundamentally different architecture, one where infrastructure is distributed, trust is earned through reputation, and no single entity holds the keys.

What we bring

  1. 1Hyperscale engineeringDirect experience building and operating infrastructure at the world's largest cloud platforms, CDNs, and global networks.
  2. 2Systems expertiseDeep knowledge of distributed consensus, fault tolerance, scheduling algorithms, and network protocol design.
  3. 3Security firstYears of production security experience inform every architectural decision, from WASM sandboxing to TLS everywhere.
  4. 4Global perspectiveWe've operated infrastructure across every continent. The internet is a global system that demands global solutions.
  5. 5Human firstWe are real humans with varied thoughts, goals, families and passions. We'd welcome like-minded people from all backgrounds and countries to join us in creating a better internet.

Our mission

More resilient, more efficient, more equitable than the centralised model it replaces

A distributed internet infrastructure, built from first principles.

Decentralised infrastructureOwned by many, not fewBreak the stranglehold of hyperscale providers. Anyone with compute capacity can take part in powering the internet.
Datacenter reductionIdle capacity, put to workThe world is full of underused servers and chips. SkyPhage connects homelabbers, niche colos and anyone with a good connection and a handful of Raspberry Pis to real compute demand, cutting waste and making compute affordable for everyone.
Built for resilienceNo single point of failureOur architecture ensures that no single outage, no single company, and no single decision can bring down the network.

What we do

Our priorities

We're clear about what we are, and what we are not. These principles shape every decision we make.

  1. 1Security above all elseSecurity is our first priority, ahead of everything else. Every architectural decision, every workload placement, and every line of code is measured against the security and integrity of the network before anything else.
  2. 2An orchestrator and a brokerWe connect those with compute demand to independent hosts with spare capacity, matching workloads to the right place on the network, and we coordinate that exchange rather than owning the infrastructure that fulfils it.
  3. 3We don't run your workloadsWorkloads execute on the independent hosts that make up the network, not on infrastructure we operate. Our role is to orchestrate and broker that execution, not to be the one running it.

Our approach

Rethinking compute infrastructure from first principles

We're not just building another cloud.

WebAssembly as the universal runtimePortable, sandboxed, and near-native speed. Write in any language, compile once, and run on any host in the network. No containers, no VMs, no compatibility issues.
Trust through reputation, not authorityEvery host earns a reliability score based on real performance. The network self-organises around quality. No central authority decides who participates.
Geo-aware orchestrationWorkloads are placed near the users who need them. A modified haversine routing considers hops, latency, distance, reliability and available capacity in real time.
A two-sided marketplaceInfrastructure owners monetise spare capacity. Businesses get globally distributed execution at competitive prices. Developers ship without managing servers.

Milestones

Key dates for SkyPhage

From the first prototype to a network taking shape.

  1. 1
First prototypeThe earliest working proof that compute could flow across an open, distributed mesh of hosts.
  2. 2
First homelab onboardedThe first independent operator joined the mesh, turning spare capacity into a live node on the network.
  3. 3
Pre-seedFirst outside backing to turn the prototype into a platform and grow the team behind it.
  4. 4
SeedScaling the network, the orchestration layer, and the community reimagining who owns the internet.
